Twelfth Annual Virginia Patient Safety Summit – A Success!

VHHA and the VHHA Center for Healthcare Excellence hosted the 2023 Virginia Patient Safety Summit as a virtual event on February 23, 2023 that attracted a record number of registrants (nearly 1400 registrants) to focus on programming on the theme of “Virginia Healthcare: Moving Forward Together.” While the past three years have been challenging, the COVID-19 pandemic presented an opportunity for health care innovation and recalibration. The 2023 Summit presented an opportunity for the Virginia hospital and health care community to engage in meaningful conversation, collaboration, and shared learning focused on moving forward together while continuing to provide safe, high-quality patient care and fostering joy among the health care workforce. The Summit featured keynote remarks from leading national clinical leaders including Dr. Tejal Gandhi , Chief Safety and Transformation Officer with Press Ganey Associates, and Dr. Peter Pronovost, Chief Quality and Clinical Transformation Officer with University Hospitals in Cleveland. Corey Feist, President and Co-Founder of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation, will also participate and provide an update on the work being done in Virginia and across the country to provide resilient healthcare workplaces that promote joy in practice and work and that support a culture of safety. The Summit program was supported by Virginia hospitals and health systems, members of the Virginia Patient Safety Summit partner organizations (the Medical Society of Virginia, the Virginia Nurses Association, and the Virginia Pharmacists Association ) and several healthcare vendors. Read more about the Summit here.
